Watch them eat, spin silk, grow to 10× their size, hang upside down, and form chrysalides.

After 7–10 days, transfer chrysalides to the habitat using the holding log; adult butterflies emerge about 7–10 days later.

Whole cycle takes 3–5 weeks (longer in early spring and autumn, as little as 3 weeks in summer).

Caterpillars can be ordered from now through to mid-September.
At the start of the season in March and April, the cycle is generally around 5 weeks, this time reduces as the weather improves, at the height of summer the cycle can be as little as 3 weeks to complete. As the weather cools in September the cycle will go back to 4-5 weeks.
