The Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle-earth
-
This is an epic two-player strategy duel set in Tolkien’s legendary world, mixing deck-building, area control, and thematic conflict 🗡️.
-
The game is designed for 2 players and is recommended for ages 12 and up.
-
A standard playthrough lasts about 45 minutes, though players familiar with the system may finish a bit faster.
-
The game is divided into three chapters, during which players can strengthen skills, collect treasures, expand influence across regions, or advance the Quest of the Ring track.
-
Victory can be achieved in three different ways: complete the Quest of the Ring (Frodo reaches Mount Doom, or Nazgûl catch him), control all regions of Middle-earth, or forge alliances with all the races.
-
During the game, players play cards representing skills (strength, courage, knowledge, etc.), units, and races; these cards allow movement, influence, and special powers.
-
The board features seven regions linked by paths; some card plays allow troops to move or march through these regions, engaging in area control.
-
Thematically, one player commands the Free Peoples, attempting to protect the Ring and thwart Sauron; the other controls the forces of Shadow, seeking domination and the capture of the Ring bearer.
-
Because it’s a card-and-board hybrid, no batteries or electronics are involved.
-
What’s in the box: game board with seven region map, card decks (chapters, skill/unit/race cards), character markers, tokens for alliances and treasures, rulebook
